R. E. Sladdin / Brighouse / 1901
« on: Wednesday 18 May 16 06:48 BST (UK) »
I have an advert for hats & caps sold by an R. E. SLADDIN at 5 Bethel Street, Brighouse around 1901.

Can anyone confirm / refute that this is ROBERT SLADDIN [born 1841] son of ORLANDO SLADDIN, of the Sladdin family of tailors who were big in Brighouse in the 19th century.

Any help would be welcome

I think that is very likely to be Robert Edison Sladdin, son of William Henry Sladdin, born Brighouse in 1880. He was a woollen draper in the 1901 census.

Thank you.  That makes sense, and I already have a mention of him

son: Robert Edison [1880-1925] who was a commercial traveller [1911]

in his father's entry on my Calderdale Companion.
