Have you checked the PCC Wills on Anc*?

There are two that could be potentially interesting

William Lidington of Silverston 26 Jan 1824. -  this one mentions father Richard, this is only a couple of miles from Whittlebury, worth a look

Just to bring you up to date

Richard Lidington married (as his second wife) Ann Woolams or Woolhams and not Wadham.

Ann had a sister Sarah who married Philip Box of Buckingham who mentions her niece Sarah Bartlett (nee Lidington) in her will from 1812.

I have no doubts this is correct, so thanks for your help again

Hello, I am new to rootschat and have just seen your posts about Sarah lidington and immediate family. I am a current day lidington (65) and am directly descended from the Peter and Richard lidingtons you mention. They are my great grandfathers six / seven times removed.
You will have more detail than I do for the second marriages in the1700s but what I can say is my direct lidington  family has been a long time in the whittlebury / silverstone area and I can see name corruptions in the records or reports of the records where, to me, it's quite clear that there were not two or more lid(dd)ing ton families in a very small village at the same time and with the same Christian names. my great great grandfather (Stephen) came to London as a wine merchant in the mid 1800s. From thereafter we have all been in and around London and Kent. If you need/ want any detail of my line of lidington's do please ask .

Nick, thanks for your message and welcome to RootsChat.

Richard Lidington 1731-1774 married twice, firstly Elizabeth Greaves (4 children none of them lasted very long)and secondly Ann Woolams ( 4 children, 3 suvived), their daughter Sarah married Edward Bartlett (4 x gg parents). Ann then married Robert Miligan in 1775 and had another 7 children.

Sarah Woolams (sister to Ann) married Philip Box which then helped me to unravel the Bartlett / Box links in both social & business.

I believe that RL's father was Peter 1703-1762, his ggfather John died 1719. That is far back as I have managed without a visit to the Northampton archives.
