Maybe RCers could help?!

There has obviously been some research done and from what I can see

His parents were Michael McLOUGHLIN and Bridget RYAN from his birth record

I believe that their marriage took place on Feb 10 1867 in Kilcummin RC Church
Micheal being shown as McLOUGHNY of Foilnadanagh; father Patrick
Bridget RYAN of Riesk; father Matthew
Witnesses Thomas MALLOUGHNY & Mary RYAN
Civil District: Borrisoleigh, Co. Tipperary
But these are common names and subject to further proof

The fourteen children were (as I can find)
1.   Hanora b. May 14 1871
2.   John b. Aug 20 1872
3.   Mary b. 1874
4.   Bridget (1) b. 1875 d. 1875
5.   Bridget (2) b. 1876
6.   Patrick (1) b. 1877 d. 1878
7.   Matthew b. Mar 17 1879 (shown as McGLOUGHLIN on civil records)
8.   Patrick (2) b. 1880
9.   Michael b. 1882
10.   William b. 1883
11.   Johanna b. Aug 15 1884
12.   Margaret b. 1886
13.   Catherine (Kate) b. Jun 08 1887
14.   Ellen b. 1890

1901 Census
Possible for brother William LINK
Possible for sister Maggie
LINK

1911 Census
Possible for Mother, Patrick and Ellen LINK

Letter to his mother after his death about her letters to him

There are many possibilities for the family marrying but without actual certificates could be difficult to prove however some one here may be able to find out more!

This Link includes the reason for the search; the UK Specialist Protection Squad now intends to honour Detective Sergeant Matthew McLoughlin, by naming their new Offices after him, when they move from their current premises at Scotland Yard, later this year.

Thank you both
It is always strange to see a large family seemingly disappear within a generation

Very true aghadowey - the names are common enough in the area

I believe they are hoping to make contact with relatives so firstly interested in the son Michael Paul born in 1912 who was on the electoral registers in England in the late 1920s or else with cousins through the family

They suggest that Matthew's wife, Marguerite Amelie Quernel was French

There's a possible death for the son-

Michael McLoughlin 1938 at sea (birth year shown as 1913 but likely calculated from age at death so possibly born 1912).

An online tree has mother Marguerite Amelie Quernel (1882–1935) died 23 June 1935 Battersea, London and a possible marriage for Michael Paul in 1963 based on searching for a Michael P. McLoughlin,

Thank you aghadowey - unfortunately it is the common name that makes this difficult

I would hope that the media coverage would perhaps someone related to one of the rest of the McLoughlin family to come forward if there is anyone!
