Hi can anyone please help me before i start pulling my hair out I am looking for any information on my great grandfather his name was William Joseph Devereux he is on the 1911 census as living in Formby Lancashire but it says he was born in wexford Ireland 1881-1882 but I can't get any further if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated thank you x

Yes it does name his father it's the same William Joseph Devereux

I see he was a sailor, there is a merchant seamens card for a William Devereux , fireman, born 25/05/1882 Wexford.
There is a photo too but there is no real way of knowing if its your William or not unfortunately.

familysearch has Irish civil registration index, but I can only find a William James Devereux born in Co Wexford in 1881
and a William without a middle name in 1882
Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge
Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

No 125682, there is a photo too but there is no real way of knowing if its your William or not unfortunately.

FindMyPast has Merchant seaman medal card for a William Devereux b abt 1882 Kilbrane, can't find that place name but there is a Kilrane not far from Wexford
