That's what I mean.
I am in doubt that JW husband of Hannah is yours.

What did you think had happened to him after 1911?

You may need to purchase the 1911 marriage certificate which would rule in/out your John William.

You may not find attestation records for him in WW1 as a large percentage of these records were destroyed in WW2

You could also check 1911 for a moulder.

Hi Heywood
Yes your right I need to purchase marriage cert - its a pity the only document I can find so far is the FreeBMD which doesn't confirm much, where with George Hindley his brother there is an entry in the Manchester section which is the actual certificate, At this stage I don't want to spend more money on this section of the family there are many others I need to get first, however if anyone has a copy it would be really appreciated
As far as John is concerned he was living with mother Jane on the 1911 census and married later that year as there is no Attestation record I assume he joined up after his marriage and ended up in the trenches with the 11th Manchester regiment, I have a copy of the war diary for that day but no record of him being killed - the Commonwealth Graves record say he died 3 August 1916
Everything I have or checked indicates I have the correct John but without confirmed proof there is always that nagging doubt
Regards
Ray ;) ;) :-\

Hi Ray,

It was Rosie who advised re marriage cert. but I agree.

However, I can only repeat the information I have already posted.
There looks to be three births to John W Hindley and Hannah Heaton.
The CWGS John W is the husband of Hannah.

The first birth is September1911 - round about the time of the marriage as posted by Rosie.
The baptism of this child shows John William Hindley, parents John William and Hannah. John is a moulder and the address is Beaumont Street Beswick.

As I said, you need to check 1911 census for other John Hindleys  and look at occupations and addresses.

You say that your John is with mother Jane in 1911 but there are others to check.

As you have said it is a common name and you seem to have dismissed the hints I have given earlier but it is worth rechecking.

Regards
Heywood
