Michael Lyons 1893
« on: Wednesday 25 May 16 12:51 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace the family of Michael Lyons born in 1893 but am having no luck. I know that he got married in 1921 in Cardiff aged 26 but can't seem to get any further back from that. His marriage certificate states that his father was a Patrick Lyons who was a labourer but where he was from I don't know. I have assumed that Michael came from Cardiff and I did find a birth record for one born in the June quarter of 1893 which matches with the birth year that he gave on the 1939 register but couldn't find him anywhere on census records. I did however find a  World War One naval record for a Michael Lyons in Cardiff who was born in June 1894 and I think this may be the person that I am looking for but the record isn't much help as his next of kin is listed as a friend called Mrs Turkington who lived in Montreal, Canada.

If anyone can help me in my search I would be very grateful.
Thanks Carys

The Jarrow chap cannot be ruled out, he remains a "possible" doesn't he.
He appears to still be in Jarrow in 1911 - full look ups are not allowed, but you can have a look yourself.

What was Michaels occupation? Witnesses?  Names he chose for his children?
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

The witnesses were not people who had the surname Lyons so I didn't think that they were from his family although it could be a possibility. Michael Lyons' job in 1921 was a stevedore.

As it turns out the Michael Lyons that had been born in Cardiff in 1893 sadly died that same year so the Jarrow one looks as if it may be the right person.

Thanks for your help
