If you go back to this map for Cullycapple you'll be able to check other townlands in the area. Going along the present Mullahinch Road there's Cullycapple, Mullahinch then Bovagh with Caheney only a short distance away.

I've managed, so far, to put the Heaneys into 3 families (probably all connected back to some point)-

So many Heaneys!  Do we know anything about Jane Wallace Heaney (married to Robert Heaney?

I wonder about my Relative Margaret Ann. Boyd who married John Heaney.  Her parents were Thomas Boyd (born 1785) and Leticia Wallace born 1786.  I do not know where that Boyd family came rom (Northern Ireland) and they came over in 1839 to 1840.  Trying to see if the Leticia Wallace was related to Jane Wallace Heaney.  They were born in the late 1700;s.  I see there is a Boyd family married into the Heaneys, but my relatives were already in New York in the 1850s.

Thanks for all this help!!!

That's not all the Heaneys! I just posted the first few generations but will be able to send you complete families with sources, etc. before too long.

I'm fairly certain that Jane (Wallace) Heaney was the same Wallace as my family (and they lived next to the Heaneys). Only one of the Heaney houses is still standing (Hill Cottage was also knocked down) but think I have photos taken there in the 1980s which might show what they looked like.

Wallace, however, is a common surname and there were even other Wallaces in Cullycapple. Letitia isn't a name that has come down in our family.

Thomas Boyd (married Margaret Heaney) was from Ballyclough (still in Aghadowey but not that close to Cullycapple). Boyd is also a common surname and probably difficult to make a connection now with Margaret Ann Boyd's family. There was a John Boyd, from Killeague (near Ballyclough), who came to Cullycapple when he married the Female School teacher. They had a large family and he took over the school after wife had a stroke in 1890s and at this point it seems to have become a mixed school (boys and girls). Their son Alfred later became schoolmaster and one of his daughters gave me a Boyd family tree done by a cousin of her father's or grandfather's which goes back to 1700s.

Hogg, on the other hand, were mostly about Caheny but had a habit of using the same Christian names making them more difficult to sort out.

Thanks, this is great stuff.

I would be interested to see if my relative (Thomas Boyd born in 1784) was a relative from the Alfred Boyd Tree in the 1700's. His wife's name was Leticia and she was born in 1786.  They had Thomas Juniior - Born 1820
Jane born - 1823
Margaret Ann born 1830
Nancy - Born 1822

There may have been other children that did not come with them when they immigrated and stayed in Ireland.  I notice both parents were older when having children .

Do we know what the relationship is between Robert Heaney (married too Jane Wallace) and Thomas Heaney (John Heaneys father) was?

Thanks!!!!!

The Boyd family tree starts with John Boyd who married his cousin Margaret Boyd c1750 and moved from Lismoyle to Collins c1784. They did have a son Thomas Boyd born c1787 who moved to Killykergan but he married Jane ? . Their son Thomas married Morrow and went to Boston, Mass. so definately not the same family.

Found out last night (still going through old papers and checking with other resources) that Robert "Robin" Heaney had a brother Thomas so Robert can't be a brother of William, Ann & Thomas.

Robert "Robin" Heaney married Jane Wallace, His brother-

Thomas Heney (d. July 1856), stonemason, Moneydig, m. Jane.
The Will of Thomas Heney late of Moneydig in the County of Londonderry Stone Mason deceased who died in July 1856 at Moneydig aforesaid was proved [21 Apr.1858] at Londonderry by the oath of Daniel Richmond of Boveady in the said County Farmer one of the Executors. Effects under £200. Will dated 21 Jan.1843 mentions wife Jane, sons James & Thomas, daughters Jane & Anne, brother Robert Heney of Cullycapple (executor). William Heney, schoolmaster, Cullycapple swore oath that he was the William Heney who drafted and witnessed Will putting date as 21 Jan.1823 by mistake. Probate granted to Daniel Richmond, Robert Heney having renounced.
1.   James Heney (alive 1843).
2.   Jane Heney (alive 1843).
3.   Thomas Heaney (c1827/1830-1875) m.(1854) Maria Gray (d.1909)
     1.   Mary Ann Heaney (1858)
     2.   Maria Heaney (1860)
     3.   Thomas James Heaney (1862)
     4.   Samuel Gray Heaney (1865-1891)
     5.   Robert John Heaney (1867)
     6.   John Heaney (1868)
4.   Anne Heney (d.aft.1901) m.(1857) John Boyd (1896). No children mentioned in John's Will.
