Thanks Bearkat

So that proves the marriage is correct, have been on to FreeBMD but can find no death , however Thomas did marry ANN WILTON on the 26th feb 1844 in Portsea, so Henrietta should not still be around in principle !!

Was at sea myself - but never went that far !!

So far the marriage was my only sighting, but having found her maiden name have tried for any births - so far no luck and cannot find on census, so far, but also not certain where they might have been living at that date.
"1840, H.M.S.Columbine in company with H.M.S. Blenheim and Nimrod, left the Cape on route for Singapore, to take part in the First Opium War (1839 – 1842)" - so we know that he would not show on'41 Census.

Afternoon Bearkat

Just cannot find our ex Miss Ballard anywhere, one of those brickwalls, or me not seeing wood for trees, main thing is we know she did exist, and I thank you for that.

Apart from keeping a weather eye out on these floods over here, thought I might relook the two parents, and came across an ADM 45/25/106 regarding claims from widow Sarah to the Navy regarding  death of superannuated Shipwright Thomas at Chatham on 4th August 1849 , now since our young Thomas in fact died in 1845, I doubt that the allotment made in 1838 by him was to that Sarah.
So seems since the allotment was to Sarah in Rochester - could be the Dredgerman's Son, however cannot find his death date, thinking back however to the hectic day at TNA, there was mention on the allotment form of "Sarah mother of three boys" ?

If that is all correct then all we have to do is find where that Thomas was born to solve the problem - says he - but how - Help!

Best

Uhn suppose wherever the body came ashore is where they are registered, so no go on that one. Were there floods around that time - rather sad.

Thanks for the search.

Yes interesting certain, but that would make poor old Thomas a bigamist, no sure I would buy that one, after his initial ship, he was attached to Portsmouth ( and when he married Ann, it was in Portsea) - so have been searching that area , thinking that Henrietta might have moved there, and died, missing Kent and family - but no luck -if anyone has Ancestry ?

Other point - no middle name ' Martha ' and first one could not write, either but Uhmmmm

Here's another interesting marriage

http://tinyurl.com/Henrietta-Ballard-marriage

her father is still Charles BOSTON.

She should have married Thomas PLADGER as a NOKES.

So to re-cap on the marriages found so far -

28 March 1837 Henrietta BALLARD (Spinster) to Thomas TILLMAN at Gillingham

4 November 1839 Henrietta BALLARD (widow, father Charles BOSTON, carpenter) to Henry NOKES at Chatham

8 September 1851 Henrietta Martha TILLMAN (widow, father Charles BOSTON, carpenter) to Thomas PLADGER at Frindsbury

At all these marriages Henrietta made her mark X.
All the witnesses are different.

So are all three the same lady or only the last two? With no father named in the 1837 marriage it may be difficult to prove.
