Patrick May b1816 Mayo
« on: Tuesday 31 May 16 08:55 BST (UK) »
Morning All,
My ancestor, Patrick May (b1816 Ireland) was living in Liverpool in 1851 because he is on the 1851 census living with wife Ellen (b1816 Ireland), his daughter Catherine (b1845 Ireland) and son James (b1849 Ireland). Now, James the son was born in Mayo according to the UK Census of 1911. This is all the information that i have, so, HELP, where do i go to from here to try to trace my roots back to ireland. I dont have a marriage certificate or anything because i cant even find out when Patrick and Ellen were married. Stuck, and frustrated
Many thanks

if they were RC you could look through the registers online free...

While not yours the 1901 Census gets you locations for the surname..

The Parish registers are extremely difficult to read and decipher, but i will persevere and hopefully come across a match. The 1901 census i have seen and got an entry for James living in Sheffield UK as a Stone Mason / Bricklayer. Many thanks for the tips and anymore would be a valued bonus
