If you read through the locked topics on this board there is some information about where you can find records. If you want help perhaps you can give us some dates as John Ross is quite a common name
Might help if you give us a little more information

John Ross (b 1869) m Isabella Duff on 2.6.1893 Cullen, a son John Ross B 1891, who emigrated to South Africa had 3 boys Ian Ross (last known visit to uk 1981), Alastair and Graham. Trail has gone cold!

Do you know who John Ross (Jnr) married?  There is a tombstone on eggsa.org for a John Ross 1891-1954 who was married to an Ada Jane 1888-1962.   

Is Isabella the mother of John?  I see she was married in 1893, but he was born in 1891.

There is a record in the Cape Archives for a John Ross Died 1954
MOOC   6/9/23016   4876/54   ROSS, JOHN. ESTATE PAPERS.   1954   1954

Unfortunately not included in the records available via familysearch.org - you could write to the Cape Archives and ask them to copy it for you - addresses available on the NAAIRS site see pinned topics for how to access)

I have had some success with getting records from them
