Anyone know about the parentage of Ester Fowler, great-grandmother of Emily Dickinson?  Looking to trace Ester's ancestors back a few generations.

A little Googling identifies her as:

Esther Fowler, born about 1740 in Westchester, Windham County, Connecticut, died  March 15, 1803 in Amherst, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.

She was the wife of Nathan Dickinson [great grandfather of Emily Dickinson] of Amherst, Massachusetts.

I haven't tried to delve any farther back yet.

This item is available to read online but does not include the Fowler family.  If there ever was a volume that covers the letter 'F,' I can't find it online.  Possibly it exists in a library.

History of ancient Windham, Ct. Genealogy. Containing a genealogical record of all the early families of ancient Windham, embracing the present towns of Windham, Mansfield, Hampton, Chaplin and Scotland. Part I. A-Bil

Thank you for the resource, I'm based in NYC so I should be able to track down a copy at one of our libraries.

I updated the dates, it was a typo, 1740-1803 is correct.

Is anyone aware of a Fowler family organization?  I can't find reference to one online.

As regards the above mentioned "History of ancient Windham," it says that "Most of the genealogies herewith published appeared in the Williamantic journal in 1862 and 1863. They have been re-arranged, carefully revised and corrected, and contain much additional matter."  So it might be worth trying to locate the relevant issues of that publication.
