MARRIAGE:

Ann Richardson married John Cowldwell 3 Dec 1767 Selby, Yorkshire.

Found another child

John COLWEL born 28 April 1778 bpt. 5 May 1778

THANK YOU SO MUCH! And sorry for the delay as I have been out of forum.

When you say Selby, do you mean at the Abbey?

And the baptism of John - is this in Brayton?

This must be a Dade entry? Are there others in this vein for the Coldwell family?

I don't seem to have a baptism for the John Colwell, father, who I presume was baptised 1738-ish. Also, I only have two children born to this John, and yet the second daughter (Mary) is described as the third.

Hi again

Sorry got a bit sidetracked

Right Mary's baptism is a Dades entry as is John's, Thomas is just "Thomas son of John .. " I can't see any more baptisms in Brayton for any children but you are right it does say third daughter.

The only baptism showing up on F M P is in Cawthorne near Barnsley which is about 30 miles from the Selby area for John bc1738.

John COLDWELL bpt. 5 Apr 1737 son of Joseph Coldwell, farmer.

Hi Claire - how do you access specific marriages on FindMyPast? (The route to find the record set might be good to post.) I can only find two transcriptions of this marriage there. Or is your source something else?

Hi

I always try and think of different ways of spelling the surname/forename ~ sometimes ticking the variants box hasn't worked for me

Have to admit, its took me an age to find it, it is there though. I just put the year 1767 and Selby ~ no names , I can't think what it has been transcribed as, but here is a link.

http://search.findmypast.co.uk/record/browse?id=gbprs%2fyorkshire%2f007569074%2f00580

Hope this works

Hello Claire - many thanks once again and great to see the image. I have put those search terms in and I still only get the transcribed record; I can't seem to get a link to that image so still can't see how you get there.

I ask as there are several marriages I'd like to find but I can't seem to access the marriage registers - only baptisms and burials. What do you think?
