Morton Family
« on: Saturday 04 June 16 13:49 BST (UK) »
I would be most interested in finding out any information on my elusive family members:
David Morton from Cormeen, Killylea who died in 1807. David had at least two sons , Thomas who married Mary Kane and John who married Jane Lawson. They were Presbyterians.
Many thanks for any information anyone is able to give me.

these 3 properties can be searched further on http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation eg
Griffiths valuation  has further details normally including a map ref and a 1860ish map look up a map,  concentating on the two older locations  you will find Drumacanver road about 4 miles south of Cormeen road.  Killylea village is about a mile west of  Cormeen.

if you want to see Cormeen road, or Drumacanver road Co Armagh as a streetscene see https://www.google.co.uk/maps/  this fun and informative if you don’t know the area particularly if you have found the homestead on the 1860ish map

Also a will of an Alexander Morton of Manooney, Killylea in 1897 ... effects to be auctioned off and proceeds to be distributed ... includes a debt of 10 pounds to the Presbyterian Church in Knappagh; balance to be given to his wife, Ann Morton.

Again, thank you so much!
That has now led me to a Baptiste Morton who died in 1851. Seems to be another brother of Charles Morton who died in 1861. This seems to be a very unusual name? As yet I can't find any information on him.

A Son of Thomas Morton & Mary Kane, Charles Morton married Sarah Gibson & migrated with their children to Australia on board the "CHARLES". They arrived in Port Philip on 30 September 1853.

Where would I look to find out any information about a David Morton who was living at Manooney, Tynan, County Armagh in the year 1856? My ggg grandfather died in this home and I believe the above may be related to him as there is a name connection.
Many thanks for any help given.
