Thame
« on: Saturday 04 June 16 21:11 BST (UK) »
Can somebody help me, I have just purchased a CD from OFHS for Thame to cover Aston Rowant where my family comes from. I have now found that some of the family were born in Thame and are not on this disc, is Thame a town in itself, if so does it means I will have to purchase another disc. Also what district will Kingston Blount come under.
Thanks
Pat

GenUKI says:

KINGSTON-BLOUNT, a liberty in the parish of Aston-Rownant, hundred of Lewknor, county Oxford, 4 miles S.E. of Tetsworth, and 5 S.E. of Thame.

and

ASTON ROWNANT, a parish in the hundred of Lewknor, in the county of Oxford, 5 miles to the S. of Thame, its post town. It lies near the border of Buckinghamshire, on the north side of the Chiltern hills, and comprises the townships of Chalford and Kingston Blount.

The CD will cover C of E parishes.
Maybe they were non-conformist or Catholic?

Hello Pat -

You're always welcome to contact the OFHS helpdesk!

This map tells you what parish is on what CD:
http://searches.oxfordshirefhs.org.uk/pardata.html

Alternatively use http://www.ofhs.org.uk/MH2016-sales-pages.pdf

You may be confusing the Registration District of Thame with the parish.  The parish is on CD TH01

Kingston Blount is a Chapel of Ease to Aston Rowant - events are recorded at Aston Rowant.

So yes, either you need CD TH01 or you need to use the Search Services to tie down a parish for certain - see on the left at www.ofhs.org.uk

Yes, the fiche are the same content - but it's always good practice to check the burials for infant deaths so you may want both baptisms and burials, which are in different packs.
