Dinah Lowery married James Summerson
« on: Wednesday 08 June 16 12:20 BST (UK) »
It has taken me a while to find the missing years of my great grandmother Dinah Lowery who married James Summerson.
She was a patient at Winterton, Sedgefield, County Asylum from 1896 until her death in 1922.
I am hoping to find descendants who know more about her.
I have her pre-1913 medical records and am in the process of getting her post 1913 medical records.

Have you looked to see if anyone on rootschat is investigating these surnames by looking in 'Surname Interests' in 'Your Tools' below?

Hello, I'm very interested in your post. I'm afraid that I don't have any information for you, but I am very interested in Dinah's medical records. I am the daughter of Norah Summerson (Shaw), who was the daughter of Alfred Thomas Summerson. Dinah was his mother, but I remember my mother telling me that he wasn't raised by his mother. I think he was only 4 when Dinah went into the asylum. Most things were kept secret from us as children. I am only now finding things out and would be very grateful for any information.

I have found more information on Olive Summerson. She was born in Oct of 1899. In the 1901 census she is living with James Summerson and his children. She is listed as James' grandchild. Margaret (Olive's mother) married Robert James Harbinson in 1902. They had 5 children (3 boys and 2 girls). Olive is never listed as living with them and is not included in their family census. In the 1911 census, Olive is said to be a boarder at Front Street, Croxdale, Durham. She is living with Lanet Carr (age 48) - a dressmaker, Dorothy Ann Clish (age 70) - a boarder and Aimy Mary Croome (age 20) - a boarder. This is the last entry I can find for her until 1922 when she marries Fred Eastwood.

Ann. We are second cousins.
Sorry i didn't get back to you sooner i really didn't expect a reply.
We need to get in contact privately so i can send you the medical records.
It took a while to get them because some of them are less than 100 years ago.

I also found Olive on the 1911 Census same as you.
I found some children of hers and Fred Eastwood but i should share that privately as they could still be alive.
