Hello all,
Though most of my posts have been in the Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire boards on this wonderful forum, there is also a question for the Irish section, and I'm hoping someone can help me solve this mystery.
My ancestor served in the Bedfordshire militia and seems to have spent some time in Ireland with his regiment, in the 1790s. He had at least one child in Ireland (her place of birth turns up as Ireland in two censuses, 1851 and 1861), but there may have been more. If you could help me find baptisms for the child(ren) that would be fabulous.
This is what I have:
James LIGHTFOOT (or FOOT, he himself was baptised as James Foot, somehow the whole family changed their surname some time in the 1780s) x Jenny/Jane CRUTCHLEY (married 1790 in Goldington, Bedfordshire).
These are their children, well, the ones I know of:
1: Mary Lightfoot (Oakley, Bedfordshire, 1791)
2: Jane Lightfoot (Trim, Meath, Ireland, abt 1797, based on the census info)
3: John Foot (Clapham, Bedfordshire, 1801)
4: Elizabeth Lightfoot (Clapham, Bedfordshire, 1803)
5: Alice Lightfoot (Clapham, Bedfordshire, 1805)
6: Joseph Crutchley Lightfoot (Clapham, Bedfordshire, 1807)
7: Thomas Lightfoot (Clapham, Bedfordshire, 1811)
My first goal is to find a baptism for Jane Lightfoot, of course. Would there be any place I could look, anyone who could locate a baptism for a child of a Militia father? Also, I'm thinking James and Jenny/Jane may have had more children in Ireland, any idea how I could find out if there were?
Thanks very much in advance for any help!
Regards,
Lexi.
