I had sent Col. Carew a long email with details on May 1st.
Jove.carew@sympatico.ca
(had failed before with undelivered email "invalid recipient" but this  one went through--no undelivered email response from AOL)
But I never got response from him so figured my email
was ignored or trashed.
How did you do it ??
I will try to forward a copy of my email to him to you via PM if I can figure out how to do it.

Thanks for your help.

Lanarman,
Just saw your message. Will check link soon. Thank you.
Sent email to SA (email expanded to letter :)) about 1/2 hour ago. No response of receipt from his office and no notice from AOL of "invalid recipient" so far. Used your address:
Ken

Thanks for that SA Bromley link that may be a new lead for me if they have an archives department. My grandfather AND grandmother Frances were both living in Bromley in 1902 and were married at St. Mary's church on March 29 (Frances actually lived inside the parish boundary).
Maybe my grandfather learned about Hadleigh and the overseas colonies there and pondered on it for a while. I don't know where they lived after they got married but in August 1904, even though he now had two young sons (one an infant), he nevertheless was driven by (probably) the SA promises of improvement of work and living conditions in Canada and made the decision to find out.
Will look for the "Contact Us" box at the site and go from there.
   Thanks
