Hi
I wonder if anyone can help me with information regarding Samuel Clarke who emigrated from Derbyshire to Hamilton, Canada in the early 1900’s.
Sam was born 1974 in Prestbury, Cheshire, the son of David and Mary Clarke.
According to the Census returns, in 1881 he lived at Derby, 1891 lived in Ashford in the Water. Moved around the county due to his father being a Policeman.
I was told Sam emigrated  to Canada, (date or year not known) and worked on the “Hamilton Guardian”.  I know Sam had a daughter Phyllis (McLean) and a Grandson Danny.
That is, unfortunately, all I know of Sam and his family.

Did he marry in England or in Canada?

Have you already discounted the 1901 entry for Samuel Clarke b 1874 Prestbury?

A possible for Samuel on the 1921 census of Hamilton Ontario

Samuel Clarke   47 Born England. Imm 1906. Storekeeper.
Elizabeth Clarke   47 Born England. Imm 1907
Phylis Clarke   15 Born England. Saleslady.
Winnifred Clarke   11 Born Ontario 1910.
Vernon Clarke   21 Born England.

Perhaps Vernon is Frank V Clarke born Broadheath, Cheshire and living in Altrincham CHeshire with parents Samuel and Elizabeth in 1901.

Winifred Clarke was born 26 August 1909 Wentworth Ontario to Samuel Clarke and Elizabeth Vernon.

-Winnifred Clarke born 26 August 1909 who passed away 11 October 1998 -

Last Residence 33709 Saint Petersburg, Pinellas, Florida.
