You say he was married in Feb 1936 aged 22, but I can't find a birth that fits,nor the 1940 ish death of an Anna Johnson,or a March 36 marriage on Free BMD.

Anna was born in Dublin.

Anna was born in Dublin.

But you say she died in the 40's in London and none of us can find that to confirm.

The other thread mentions 1948 for her death but as Carol says it doesn't appear to be there.

She died 1948 Hampstead.  Her husband recorder name as Ann Johnson...just to confuse matters.  Certificate reads..Wife of Leonard Johnson, Railway Platelayer. She was not living with him at the time.

I can see on the 1911 census a family living in Denaby Main Conisbrough who would fit to be Leonard's parents that would lead to a possible birth for Leonard in 1915, and then a possible death for him in St Pancras in the 1970s.

Problem is with a name like Johnson you need certificates.

Do you think Leonard stayed in London?

I've found him on the 1939 Register which gives his DOB as 06 Jun 1915 at 34 Nelson Street , Hampstead..No wife though. But..1939 their son Sam was born at that address.  Same hand writting on Birth Certificate as on 1939 Register and to me it looks like 34 Kelson St.

However I cannot find Anna Thorpe or Anna Johnson on the 1939 Register..She not living with her mother either.
