Evening....I have been looking at Ancestry and the Jersey BDM's today to try and get an idea as to this family and what happened to them.
I found the 1871 Census at St. Brelade which looks like a Frederick CANCLON (58) (but has been transcribed as CANDON) a Farm Labourer and a wife Marie (52) - no other kids mentioned.
Tried to find a death for Jeanne Tranquille Le Tellier or any of the above names, but unfortunately no luck there at this time.
So not sure if this is the Dad Frederic(k)or not in the 1871 census. The spellings of the name have been very prohibitive and I've got not idea if Canclon, Cadon, Cancloud, Camcloud actually sound anything like Canslaw. Probably getting a bit beyond me at this time!!.
I'm about out of any other thoughts at this time, so your idea to contact the Seamans Benevolent Fund is a great idea....many thanks for that!.
Cheers
