There are only 2 possible baptisms on the disc in the relevant timeframe:

1. at SOUTHWELL St Mary the Virgin (Minster), on 20 May 1701; Thomas son of John and Eliz NEWTON

2. At KIRKBY IN ASHFIELD St Wilfrid   born on 24 July 07 24    and bapt on 7 Nov 1705;  Thomas the illegitimate son of Wmi. NEWTON    and Kath.   SONNELLE

There are several possible baptisms to Thomas Newton and Mary at St Marys between 1739 - 1768 (can't confirm that these are all the same couple) - do you have these to see of there is any clue in naming patterns?
Bradbury (Sedgeley, Bilston, Warrington)
Cooper (Sedgeley, Bilston)
Kilner/Kilmer (Leic, Notts)
Greenfield (Liverpool)
Holyland (Anywhere and everywhere, also Holiland Holliland Hollyland)
Pryce/Price (Welshpool, Liverpool)
Rawson (Leicester)
Upton (Desford, Leics)
Partrick (Vera and George, Leicester)
Marshall (Westmorland, Cheshire/Leicester)
