Michael Coyne(Kyne) and Ellen Mulroe
« on: Monday 27 June 16 09:39 BST (UK) »
Good afternoon all, I am trying to trace the family of Michael Coyne(kyne) and Ellen(Eileen) Mulroe. They married in 1917 in the district of Oughterard i am still waiting for the marriage cert. Their son Patrick Kyne was born on the 1/3/1918 in Ballyveane registered as Kyne but the parents marriage is registered under Coyne. He moved to England and married and never spoke of the family in Ireland. So how would i go about finding his siblings or is it nigh impossible because of the privacy laws?I have found an Ellen Kyne born 1928 with MMN as Mulroe. Thanks

Might be best to wait for the marriage certificate so that you are starting with the right information. It should list names & occupations of both father's as well as residences of bride and groom at the time. It will also give the exact place of the marriage- usually the bride's church but often the groom's family also attended the same one.

Lots of Catholic Parish Registers are online (free)-
http://registers.nli.ie/

The latest available census is 1911- it and 1901 are also free-
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

Don't worry too much about exact spelling of names- such variations are quite common.

Thanks aghadowey.I agree with you on the marriage cert. I was hoping that there might be a way of finding out the siblings for Patrick born 1918.Don't think there will be any luck at the moment.

Ballyweeaun (Cloonbur, Galway)  now Clonbur is the parish I believe you need. There are a number of Kyne  families listed here in both the 1901 and 1911 census. Mulroe is also a name common to the locality. The local church records there will contain all the information on the family. Use the DED Cloonbur to search the census

Here's the link for Cloonbur Catholic Parish Registers but only cover a few years- be sure to check links at bottom of page to see if other records available elsewhere-
