Joseph Pipe Martock c1790
« on: Monday 27 June 16 10:50 BST (UK) »
I have George Pipe married to Elizabeth (Betty) Knight at Martock 11/6/1780. Amongst their brood of 11 kids is a Joseph baptised 2/8/1796 and another baptised 28/8/1803. I assume the first one died by 1803-can anyone find date?
A Joseph got a 7 yr trip to the colonies in 8/1/1849 for larceny is this the same man? No age or place shown in the assizes list. Thanks Pete

Hello
Not found the burial but Joseph Pipe who was convicted in 1849 of stealing timber at January sessions Taunton was age 30 and born c1819 in Martock. He had a aged mother and a wife dependent on him and petitioned not to be transported but to serve the rest of his sentence in England. He was then in Darmouth prison. It was not his first offense as he had also been convicted of stealing in 1846.He was married to a Pamela Robins

Sorry it's not him but perhaps there is another Joseph Pipe in your family tree.

ps the second child Joseph Pipe s of George and Betty was buried at Martock 4.11.1807 of smallpox.(Freereg).
Brother Samuel 26.10.1801 and sister Hester 22.3.1807

Many thanks for that, clarifies it.  1819 one is probably related further back.
