Ada Gertrude Bagley was born December qtr 1908 - she can be found on the 1939 register but no sign of Ernest.  He could however be in the Forces

The Nicholls/Ashby partnership produced 2 children born 1938 & 1940

The 1931 Nicholls/Bagley marriage produced 3 children born Birmingham 1932-1936

There is no other male Nicholls marriage to a female Bagley between 1928-1940 but there are a number of Nicholls birth registrations in the Cannock RD with mothers maiden name Bagley

There is a Bagley/Nicholls marriage in 1916 Cannock RD. The wife's birth was c1900 according to her death (in Cannock area) so the Cannock births could be theirs.

I saw that marriage but as some of the Cannock births were over 20yrs later I wondered if there was perhaps another Nicholls marriage but the bride was previously married.  The birth reg would show her true maiden name (Bagley) but the marriage would be under her previous married name

The births I thought would be from the 1916 marriage were 1918 and 1920 but then there is a jump to 1934 and between 1934 and 1940 there are 7 Nicholls/Bagley birth registrations in Cannock although there are at least one set of twins and possibly 2 included in that figure
