Mary Reilly in censuses
« on: Tuesday 05 July 16 10:16 BST (UK) »
I have Mary Reilly (born 1872) , a single woman, in 1911 living at 76 Burton Street in South Kirkby with Edward Jackson (he says he's single but his wife is living just a few streets down, he's changed his surname and shaved about ten years off his age) and son John Reilly (born 1909 in Rotherham). Mary's place of birth is given as Staffordshire which is a bit vague and I'm struggling to find her in any census before 1911. Can anyone see her in 1901?

Thanks  ;D

Is son John's birth that registered as :
John RILEY, Rotherham  9c 812

If so, any clues?  Was he baptised?

Cheers

John was actually registered as John MARR which was Edward's real surname - Jackson was also used by Edward and his family in 1901 as well for some reason  ???

I should mention that Edward and Mary were not married, just living together with their son. Edward's wife was still living in 1911. Edward was with his wife in 1901 but I have no idea where Mary is.
