Middleton- Newbury area
« on: Wednesday 06 July 16 10:38 BST (UK) »
Morning,
I'm looking for any info on my Uncle George Oliver Middleton 1901-1961 and his wife Alice Violet Victoria Fidler 1906-1996. They lived in Newbury, I think he was a postman when he died. They had two children, their son went to Australia where he died. I'm in contact with their grandchildren in Australia, but they have no info as they were born in Australia. I've been doing my tree since the 1980s but George etc are still a mystery.

Hi Jim,

Not sure how  much info you have but it appears that George O Middleton & Alice Violet Fidler married in Sep ¼ 1929 in the Marlborough Regis Dist, Wilts (Vol; 5a, Page; 223).

In 1911 Alice was aged 5 born Manton, Wilts the d/o Ernest & Fanny Fidler (the last of 9 siblings - 2 had left home)

Will send a PM.

Thank you for the replies, everything helps. The grandchildren in Australia are looking for info on George and Alice's daughter. I can't put her name on here as I expect she is living, all I know for certain is that her husband died in France in 2012. So maybe she lives in France or he died there while they were on holiday. I know this as her husbands  death was in the Newbury paper.

Have you worked out whether the daughter married in England or France, and whether any children were born in England?

Thanks for the reply,chempat.
They married 1960 in Newbury, they had no children. Well in the newspaper announcing the death of Tony, the only person mentioned was his wife. So taking it from that they had no children. In the marriages in Ancestry he was named as Tony, not Anthony which is also a poser. I've got to look again but I think in the 80s they were living in Thatcham, Berkshire.I'll try and find out if his wife still lives there.
