Have looked everywhere. GGGrandfather, David Scott, came to US in 1839 or 1841. Was 3rd child of 14.  Brother Alexander in English Army. Inherited the Scott estate. Obit says father was John Scott; mother was James McNeil. Mother from fine Scottish family in Edinburgh. Father a yeoman. His father and many before him all in the same place. I have all US info but nothing from UK.

Am hoping someone there can help me. Am ready to give up, so frustrated.

I know, James is usually a man's name. but I think in Scotland, it could be a female name also. It might be Jamesina, or could have been shortened to INA. In my reading about Scotland, I find this to be true.
