... I have a Mary Jane born in 1865 ...

The name varies between Mahon and McMahon, but there are 4 baptisms before this for father James and mother Margaret King, all in Seagoe RC parish: Margaret 1855; Catherine 1857; James 1860; Mary 1863. Can't find parent's marriage.

Margaret says she is 60 in 1901, if true that would give her a birth year of 1840/41 so an 1855 birth is pushing it.
We need births/ baptisms of know children in the 1901 census to make sure this Margaret is in fact King.

Found Patrick 1874 mother King

So I wonder if Catherine and Elizabeth are one and the same.

Is it safe to assume Margaret cut a few years off her age!

This death is close to the 1901 census age (and would explain why she doesn't seem to be in 1911- unless someone else has found her in 1911?)- onyl 4 results for Margaret McMahon 1900s Lurgan district but of course she could have died elsewhere-

Thanks Sinann, aghadowey and gaffy for all the information. It is very possible her age is different from that stated. I am going to look more closely at these details and see how they fit in and I will let you know how I get on.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to give you an update on where I am with this at the moment.

So far I have James McMahon 1838 - 1888 married to Margaret King 1840 - 1904. The children are Mary Jane 1865 - 1903 married to James Casey; Elizabeth 1869 - 1872; her twin James 1869 - 1920 married to Catherine McGlade ; Catherine 1870 married to Richard Mullin (spelling of surname varies); and Patrick 1874 - 1917 married to Margaret Grant.

I need to look further at Catherine and Richard and I still do not know where exactly James McMahon snr and Margaret King were born or who their parents might have been but thanks to all of you I have been able to get this far. I will keep you posted if I come up with anything else.

Have you discounted these children of a James Mahon/McMahon & Margaret King?

If this is Catherine in 1911 (again husband not in same household) then years married is off just a few years but no children?

Hi aghadowey, I did see that and became all the more confused but the more I think about it I believe it is the same Catherine and the John Casey aged 14 is , I think, her nephew whose own mother died in 1903. I don't know yet what has happened to Richard, her husband, as she is shown as married and like you I can not find any children for her.

I have not yet discounted the details from gaffy as it seems James and Margaret were in Seagoe Parish at some point.
