marriage at EDGEBASTON
« on: Wednesday 06 July 16 21:01 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone could help solve my brickwall?
I have John Lowther MURPHY, dentist,  born abt 1808 Dublin died 1895 at Claybrook.

He married Margaret OSBORN 1843 at Edgebaston. His marriage certficate from the GRO isn't that helpful!
The profession column is empty (I do know he was a dentist at 32 Wellington Rd) but both father's names are missing as are their professions.
I know Margaret's parents etc so that's not a problem.
I wonder if the original Edgebaston may show the missing details?

Are the parish records accessible??
thanks so much....fingers crossed....

The parish record of the marriage (Edgbaston parish church, 12 May 1842) can be viewed on Ancestry.

Unfortunately you will find that it gives no better information than you have on the certificate.

As has been said the Parish entry gives you no more than you have already.
His age jumps around a bit b. 1809-13.
It looks as though he's illegitimate & Lowther could possibly be his father's surname.
