The certificate has a line through fathers name and profession

Name Jack Frederick Thomas otherwise Jones  he married Elsie Owen .

So it looks like it's Jones for the birth .  Must have a search .

Having seen your post about Jack Thomas I thought you should know that Elsie is still alive though very elderly, over 90, I think. I am not able to supply you with any contact details. Perhaps you will find someone locally who can help you contact her .Good luck

thank you gwyneth.   I have had contact with Elsie via her son in law .
She is indeed an inspiration and still going with her voluntary work .
Sadly she could not give me information as Jack was adopted .
