Hi am looking to trace my paternal grandmothers side, her name is Elizabeth Maude Spencer, she was born brew in 1926 Dec and married twice, first to John Gibson and second to John spencer. Her fathers name is Edward brew who also married twice, think his second wife's surname was caley.

Can anyone help further?

You would need to order certificates to be certain. Did Edward Brew have a middle name? Was he Edward Shimmin Brew? There are marriages for an Edward Shimmin Brew in 1918 and 1950 at St Thomas in Douglas. Edward Shimmin Brew was born on 17 Apr 1893 to Evan Brew and Eliza Shimmin in Douglas, he died in 1974 and was buried at Douglas Borough Cemetery on 21 Jun 1974. Edward Shimmin Brew had an older sister with the same name as your grandmother. Does any of this ring any bells?

You mentioned your grandmother having a brother called Edward on another thread and marrying someone called Joan. There was an Edward Evan Brew born in Douglas in 1923. Here is a transcript of his marriage showing his father was Edward Shimmin Brew:-

Hi yes I think this is them. Edward married again as my grand mother died. The new wife's name was caley and she had children to her previous marriage one of the children was called Helena
