I noticed a comment about this earlier, but didn't know what the acronym means.

It is the British Vital Records Index, which I am told has largely been taken over by findmypast, but if anyone wants to know what is covered in the individual counties take a look here:

The BVRI was actually issued by the LDS on CD and was then incorporated into the Familysearch website at a later date.  It hasn't been taken over by FindMyPast but as both they and Ancestry have agreements with FS, entries that were originally in the BVRI will appear as FS transcripts on both sites.
