Yes, that's him Max. The only bit I haven't confirmed is his repatriation date and the name of of the ship he travelled on. There is no prefix on his ICRC records beginning with R therefore no proof. However I do believe he was one of a relatively small number repatriated via Llungbyhed in Sweden after Copenhagen's billets (under the Danish Scheme) became full. It appears he was taken from Sweden to Copenhagen to board a ship home though it was a ship to ship transfer therefore he never stepped foot on Danish soil.
Thanks for help

Simon

Denise,

Have just seen your post re: Thomas James Newman Roche. Although I don't know the answer to your question regarding the regiment he belonged to, I was interested to see the post because I believe he was my Grandmother's younger brother.  My Grandmother, Ruth, was born in 1897 and Thomas James Newman Roche was born in 1899.

Would be interested to hear if you have made any progress in tracing more information regarding Thomas James Newman Roche.

My Grandmother Ruth's family lived in Hampstead. I have been trying to find any photos of her family, so was delighted to see that you had posted a photo of Thomas James Newman Roche.

Denise,

Another thought, though another long shot, is to find out if any local rolls of honour exist which contain all those who served as opposed to just those who didn't return. I know this type of roll exists because I'm currently working my way through one containing 550 men who were colliers from Manchester (no Regts, no service Nos. so a bit of a slog). I think these rolls tended to be compiled by larger companies though there may be church ones also. As you can trace his date of death would there have been an obituary in a local paper perhaps.
I'll stop thinking now before I confuse matters further!

Simon
How would i go about this?
