Haines family of Benson 1890's
« on: Tuesday 12 July 16 23:04 BST (UK) »
Hi All.
I've hit a problem.  Thomas Edward Haines/Blissett Married Sarah Gammon in 1888. Their first 2 children were baptised in Warborough. No problem with those 2.

The next 2 were born in Benson but not baptised or were they?
Elizabeth Mary Haines born 16th March 1892
Thomas James Haines born   6th May    1894

The next 3 were also born in Benson but were baptised.
Katherine Haines (otherwise Blissett) born 13th Dec 1895 baptised 1st Mar 1896
Bernard William Haines (otherwise Blissett) born 20th Dec 1898 baptised 19th Feb 1899
Victoria May Haines (otherwise Blissett) born 24th May 1900 Baptised 1st July 1900.

My question is where was Elizabeth and Thomas baptised if not in Benson.

Maybe they slipped through the baptism net.

I have a family of 9 children and only 5 were baptised, admittedly not in the middle of the batch like yours are.

I take it you've checked under both surnames  :-\
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Yes I have, the 2 surnames seem a bit strange as they only appear on the PR's for the last 3 Baptisms.
Even on the Marriage records it states that Sarah Gammon married Thomas Edward Haines and Thomas Edward Blissett on the same day, so his alias was never a secret.

As you say perhaps they slipped through the net, perhaps I should look for any BT's.

Thanks for your input.

Any Ideas or contributions are welcome, you never know when something will trigger a new avenue to search.

Thanks Kim
I thought Warborough could be the answer.

It must be the correct baptisms but you have typed "Thomas Edward and SOPHIA" is that what the PR's say or should "SOPHIA" be "Sarah"

Thomas Edward Haines/Blissett Married Sarah Gammon in 1888, do you know if they married in Warborough

Thanks again Kim.

BORRI

Apologies for the error- that should indeed be "Sarah"  {not Sophia} !

I cannot see a marriage at Warborough for Thomas Edward & Sarah.

No apology needed, you've been a great help.

I wonder if I could trouble you once more ?

"Their first 2 children were baptised in Warborough. No problem with those 2" or at least that's what I thought.

Emily Annie Haines, also known as just Annie, was born in 1888
Ellen Sophia Haines, born 1890

I had them both down as Baptised 29th July but I didn't have a year, I assumed they were baptised together in 1890.
But your information throws those assumptions out of the window as Ellen was Baptised 29th June 1890.
So when was Emily Annie Baptised.

Fingers crossed, I believe you are the right person for this mission should you choose to accept it.
