the will of John Philip Jones is on the NLW website, noted as being the innkeeper of the Three Compasses, Clydach. It gives his date of death as 11 Oct 1845, his burial was 15 Oct 1845 aged 67.
It mentions bequests to wife Margaret, 2 sons William & Albert, 6 daughters Mary, Anne, Catherine, Margaret, Sarah & Maria.

The 1841 census has him as John Jones HO107/1419/7 folio 25 pg 14. There is a Philip Jones of similar age in Llangyfelach, but his wife appears to be Ann.

The transcript of the marriage on FreeReg doesn't mention whether the marriage was by banns or licence, but there is a bond on the NLW site for John Jones & Margaret Morgan of Llangyfelach but dated 2 May 1801.

The Cambrian online has the death of Philip Jones aged 30 of the Three Compasses 16 November 1833. There's also a mention of John Philip Jones being appointed Deputy Registrar of Births & Deaths for Llandilo Talybont on 10 June 1837.

I'm not finding a burial for a Philip Jones in Jan 1844. Where did you find that?

Hi osprey
Thank you so much I have tried searching on nlw with no results so I am obviously doing something
wrong!
Not sure what you mean by bond re the marriage?
I have tried previously with other tree stems with the Cambrian but again I had no luck, so not doing something right again☹️
I haven't confirmed the burial o, as per message have put a c next to info I have confirmed.
Thank you again osprey do appreciate 😀

use this search form

https://www.llgc.org.uk/discover/nlw-resources/wills/

select St David's for the diocese and then select name & put Philip Jones into box & search, it's the last but one of the results. Click on details, then on View the item(s)

A marriage bond is when a couple marry by licence, not by banns. But I misread the results & the 1801 bond was Margaret Morgan to John Jones in Llangyfelach.   :-[

This is the search form for other items
