Ellett Family of Chardstock
« on: Saturday 16 July 16 10:54 BST (UK) »
My daughter & I have been working on this family but have difficulties as she cannot get Ancestry to recognise Chardstock as being a parish in Dorset which it was until recently. Does anyone else have this problem and how was it overcome? Many thanks for any help. Toby.

Simple! Don't use Ancestry! ;D

There is a Dorset OPC page for Chardstock:
http://www.opcdorset.org/ChardstockFiles/Chardstock.htm

 ???
Ancestry allows Chardstock for me?
What were you looking for?

NB
Chardstock was transferred from Dorset to Devon  on 2nd July 1896 ;D

Probably the best place to look is Chardstock Historical Record Group?

Thank you for your help. The date of July 1896 explains everything.
I found the OPC and this has been found to be more helpful than I ever imagined. What a wonderful effort of that team. T
