Divorce recods

My partner's grandparents were divorced in the 1950's.  Do the divorce records still exist for this time does anyone know please as I have been lead to believe that they do not?  His grandmother lived in Cornwall and grandfather was living in York at the time with another woman as far as I can tell.  Many thanks.

Unless the case set a precedent then all that is likely to be available is the decree absolute.  In some cases there might be a brief report in local newspapers.
