Burials at Wilne - SMEDLEY

If anybody is popping into the DRO shortly, I wonder if you would be so kind to have a look at the transcipts of the Wilne burials for Joseph SMEDLEY between 1810 and 1841 thanks. I suspect he was born abt. 1770. His widow Lydia was 70-74 in the 1841 census.

You are asking somebody to look through 32 years of burial records - is that correct?

Essentially, I've been to the DRO and the PR transcripts are all neatly typed and easy to quickly scan for a name. Smedley is not common and stands out a bit.

I must confess to being a little bemused............have you been to Matlock or have you not......Carole W seems to imply that looking at 32 years of Burial Records is a bit of a chore..whereas i know it takes about five minutes...........so if you haven't found what you're looking for..I am more than happy to look at the Wilne Burials when i go to Matlock next week..............

Just in case you don't already know.............Joseph Smedley married Lydia Beading at Wilne 23.12.1793..and their son Joseph Smedley married Elizabeth Wheatley at Wilne 02.12.1839...unfortunately Burias are the hardest records to find online..so a visit to Matlock remains the best bet............

Thank you so much for the offer Derek, much appreciated. His age at date of death will help identify him more accurately. The marriage of Joseph and fis son toes in with my data.

I've been to the DRO at Matlock twice, stayed in a local B&B and had 3 days and 5 days of utter genealogical bliss tracing my Smedley ancestors from Sawley and surrounding parishes.

May possibly be able to get back there but most unlikely till 2018 so your offer is most kind.
