Between 1918 and 1925 there are 13 births for a John Wilson in Barrhead and one for a Jack Wilson, however there are no results when either of the names James or Helen are entered in the advanced search box
Using the advanced search for Jack Wilson without specifying any county or district and entering the surname Cargill in the box there are no results for a Jack. Using the first name Jack and in the advanced search box the name Helen there is one result. The same if the name James is substituted for Helen.
Using the advanced search for John Wilson without specifying any county or district there 778 matches however adding the name James cuts the results to 7. Putting the name Helen in the box cuts it to 1 result. Entering the surname Cargill in the box there are no results.

It seems Jackie has lost interest, Ros  ;)

However, for Angus Wilson 43 he is a joiner journeyman; parents Walter a stonemason deceased and mother Agnes Wilson nee McLaren deceased. One of the witnesses is John Wilson.

Agnes ? Agnew 32 father John Agnew postman mother Isabell Agnew nee Mc?owall. Witness are Elizabeth and Donald same surname I cant make out.

I reckon that's the one. Does it show up in naval deaths?

HMS Itchen (K227), a River-class frigate launched in 1942 but blown up on 23 September 1943 when hit by an acoustic homing torpedo fired by the German submarine U-666.

Wilson, John Houston Cargill

Date of Death:23/09/1943

H.M.S. Itchen

In summary: you can purchase a copy of the birth certificate in order to confirm it is him based on his parents names.

1923   WILSON   JOHN HOUSTON C A   M   BARRHEAD AND LEVERN   /RENFREW   572/02 0075

The other cert you can purchase is the marriage cert:

1918   WILSON   JAMES   CARGILL   HELEN S   district BLYTHSWOOD   GLASGOW CITY/LANARK   644/10 2574

There are two possibles for a death for James 1979/80 so an age from the marriage cert may help.
There are two possibles for Helen between 1950-2000.

The deaths are assuming they remained in Barrhead.
