Hi,

Ellen Aubrey was born c 1881 at Greenough and married at Nabawa in 1907 (both not far from Geraldton).

Lena and Tom had four children, Doris, James, Robert and Fay .  They never divorced but Tom went to live in Queensland where he died on 26 May 1979.  Lena died in Perth on 1 November 1982.

Hi,

I'm descended from Henry Aubrey (GG/Father).

My Grandfather was Thomas Martin Cowan Fizgerald, son of W.W. Cowan and Annie Cowan/Fitzgerald/Strom nee McInnes (3 marriages).

TM Fitzgerald married Helena Hannah Olsen (my G/Mother) whose parents were Johannes Olsen and Ellen Aubrey.

Ellen's parents were Henry and Jane Aubrey.

HTH,

Vincent

Hi all,
My husband is also the grandson of Lena and Thomas Fitzgerald. I started building out his family tree last year and discovered this post. I was just re-reading the information as I am trying to break through the Henry Aubrey wall, and discovered the new comments.
For any of you who are interested, I did manage to break through the Walter William Cowan wall yesterday. I found a possible lead and was building out the information, and then it was later confirmed thanks to a high DNA match (hubby has done his DNA). His father was actually George Chowne and his mother Emma Hutchby and he was born William Walter Chowne in London in 1864. So yet another name change  :P
So far DNA hasn't helped with finding out who Henry Aubrey was yet though. If anyone has any ideas, i'd love to hear them - I wish WA records are better for genealogy!! Sheena  :)

That's great work Sheena! I've been looking for the Cowan link for years and didn't have any progress. Would be great to connect and hear more of your husband's story. We didn't have much contact with our cousins growing up.

Hi Vincent,
Hubby too, grew up not knowing anything about that side of the family. He was quite interested when I told him that we had connected yesterday. His father is aware that I am researching the family tree but to this point in time has not provided any information and I get the feeling he isn't overly interested in a lot of it. After doing my families family trees, I wanted to do hubby's, more for our children to know their ancestry. I find it all so facinating - I love it!
Hopefully we can chat further and perhaps cross out some more connections.
Sheena

Hi All

Henry Aubrey was my Great Grandfather and his daughter Ellen my Grandmother. I spent a lot of time with my mother's sisters when I was growing up. I never remember them talking about their grandparents. My mother did mention that when Henry died there was money or property in the UK to claim and that Ellen was always angry that Uncle Tom (Thomas Aubrey) would not go to England to make that claim.

I too have been looking for information on Henry Aubrey for years and have had no success. I suspect he must have changed his name after arriving in Australia.

Thanks Sue, amended my post accordingly.

Hi CallyJ.
I agree that it looks as though his name must have changed once arriving in Australia. Hubby did have a DNA match that had a few Abery ancestors in their tree, but I have tried building out that family as far back as I can and then forward again, and so far have no leads to connect them to Henry Aubery. I will keep at it and if I find out anything more I will let you know :)
