I am part of the Steele family which apparently came down from Scotland as part of the industrial revolution seeking work.  A number of Steele's settled in Sheffield, Otley/ stocksbridge.  Perhaps a link or not. Sadly the majority of those no longer exist but my father always spoke about how we originated from Scotland.

Hello

I too am part of the Steele family.
My great grandfather was William Steele.
He owned the royal George hotel which he sold I believe in 1936.
He had two daughters, Florence who was my great grandmothers daughter, and my grandmother Mary who was the daughter of both Amy and William.
All I know is my great great grandfather was a ‘taxi’ horse and carriage. A businessman who we believe lost his estate when he died as he didn’t have a will and wasn’t married to his wife despite having children together.
But I don’t know his name.
I believe he was from Edinburgh
William ran hotels in Perth and Kingussie.
My father now lives in Lockerbie, and his cousins are in Banchory Aberdeenshire.
Not sure if any of this ties in with the William Steele mentioned in the original post......my dad is going to try and dig out the paperwork when he tried to do the family tree

Correct
My great great grandfather had that hotel I believe after the one in Perth and it was in the royal George where my grandmother was born in 1931 and William sold the royal in 1936.
My gran was Mary strachan Steele.

Think I made a mistake of my great great grandmothers name though married to William, Amy was on my grandads side not my grandmothers.

For the benefit of those not familiar with hotels in Scotland, I take it you are talking about the Royal George Hotel in Perth.

Is this the same Steele family as the one in the original post in this thread?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Yes correct the one in Perth was where William Steele before selling it in 1936
My grandmother was born there in 1931.
I don’t know if at all these families are related hence the original post from myself.
