I can find this baptism St George in the east, Tower Hamlet

Oct 6th 1878 Florence Macdonald parents Montague and Ellen Vernon
32 Stratfield St, Burdett Wood (?) Commercial Traveller

Think with all she named father at bapt. Unable to register him at birth because absent and she was unmarried

So Ellen was a Vernon at Florence's birth but a George Vernon is cited as Percy's father 9 years later.

It's a George Vernon we are looking for not a Henry (or have I missed something)?😀

That would be Ellen's father Henry - he was absent from the home census in 1881 but his wife still married.

I think you will have a lot of fun sorting this out. Montague McDonald seems to have been married (#1) in the first quarter of 1879, but their first child was born 10 July 1879 ;-)  Bad luck for Ellen though, he seems to have been quite well off.

Hi in 1891 Henry 56 occ Gate Porter b Loughton
Census ref RG12/288/133/2

PS in my opinion George Vernon could possibly be fictitious, what name and occupation is given for the father of Florence/Percy at any marriage?

Also Ellen Elsey Myers married Robert Folley 26th June 1885 Walworth Common.

The Florence Vernon aged 3 shown as Foundling, put it this way I would not like to walk/ or drive from Chertsey to St George in the East on a daily basis!

Florence has Montague McDonald (deceased) as father on her marriage certificate. Waiting for Percy's marriage certificate to arrive.

Thanks for that, so if the reply 9 from BettyHeath gives death of Montague McDonald 1933, when did Florence marry, where were Florence/Percy in 1911/1939?
