Missing Nellie Harrison (nee Lane)
« on: Friday 22 July 16 10:19 BST (UK) »
born 03 Dec 1898 at 2 Canal St, Earlestown and bapt 11 Dec 1898 at St John the Baptist, Earlestown - she married Arthur Harrison on 22 April 1916 at the Register Office, Warrington -
she died 05 Mar 1955 at the Cottage Hospital, Newton In Makerfield aka Newton le Willows - she does not appear in the online burial / cremations on the St Helens Council website - neither was she cremated in Manchester as those records have been checked - where on Earth did she end up - I am confused by this mystery!

any help welcome, thank you! :-\

I see you have had quite a bit of help with this on another website.

Have you got Nellie's death certificate?

Would Newton le Willows come under St Helens in the 1950's or would it have come under Lancashire?

In the 1950s Newton le Willows was part of Newton registration district which was in Lancashire

. Good question.  Maybe it would NOW be Wigan metropolitan Borough?

I think that there's more of a link with Warrington. Quite a few of my Warrington folk have events registered in Newton.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.

Census information is Crown Copyright. See www.nationalarchives.gov.uk for details.

I don't know how complete these databases are, but have checked Wigan Records on Anc* and Wiganworld indexes plus Warrington burial records, no joy I'm afraid

Have you checked the local newspaper, sometimes the obituary gives the place of burial.
