Hello,

Dudley Charles Stenning (b 1904 London), s/o Charles John Guy Stenning and Eve Minnie Nell (Maitland). In 1911 Census, the parents were Boarders with the William Strang family, 76 Devonport Rd, Shepherds Bush, London. But no sign of Dudley Stenning, or his two siblings, according to the entry - 3 children born and alive - given by his mother on the Census. I would like to know where the children were.

In 1929 Dudley C Stenning married Elizabeth Morrison (Sep Q Hackney). Did they divorce?

In 1945 Dudley C Stenning married Iris M (Edmonds) Dickinson (June Q Brentford). Iris was born Edmonds, in Christchurch, NZ and had been married to William James Morris Dickinson, before moving to England.

In 1946, Dudley Charles Stenning (aka Charles Dudley), wife, and daughter, Laurel sailed to the US on "M.S. John Ericsson". On the passenger list entry is a 500 pound bond noted for each member of this family. Can someone please explain why this was required. Thank you.

Sorry, no idea. I took the information provided by the mother in 1911 Census that there had been three children born, and were still alive. I thought they might have been staying with grandparents?

Have you already got the two Stenning/Morrison births in Lambeth, 1930 & 1933 (FreeBMD)?

In 1901 they are in Bedford Square and have one daughter and 2 servants.

You have Dudley as born in 1904, but his birthdate was actually 8 November 1903 according to his baptism record.

His sister Eve Daphne Stenning was baptised at Gunnersbury on 2 September 1900 - birthdate not stated, though later records show it as 12 June 1900.

Subsequent electoral records from 1930 onwards show an Iris Kathleen Stenning listed with Eve snr and Eva Daphne - the third child, perhaps?

I found Iris K too,Avm,but very odd that she wasn't baptised,unless she wasn't born here?

That 1946 pasenger list has Dudley as an acrobat in the theatre,maybe that's why they had to provide a £500 bond to ensure they came back to the UK?

Dudley also travelled to New York in 1937 as an actor, together with three others listed as theatrical/actor on sequentially numbered tickets: Muriel Longdon, Blanche Green and Alexander Adams.
