Minnie or Jemina

Bartholomew and Sarah Price had either 3 or 4 children

James born 1857
Charlotte born 1860
Now the problem:
On the 1881 census we have Minnie born 1867, stepdaughter.
On the 1871 no mention of Minnie but we have Jemina born 1868, daughter.  Could they both be the same but why is Minnie down as a step daughter?  All children were born in Shrewsbury.

Any help would be appreciated.

In 1881 the mother/wife is Emma not Sarah so I guess Minnie would be a step daughter to Emma?

(If Sarah was her real mother)

Sarah presumably died between 1871-1881 and he remarried an Emma.  The other child in 1881 is down as daughter not step daughter.

Did you also notice that in 1881, Minnie is described as a cripple?

Didn't spot that.

She may have died young

No I did not notice that, how sad.  The parents where paupers in 1901.  The other children seem to have disappeared young.  There was another child called Tebly born 1878, not sure if a boy or girl. In 1891 parents are on their own.

That was Tebly age 3 but no birth for that name so not sure what it was supposed to be or what happened to her.

Births in 1878 include Mary Ann - Amy - Mary Ann E.  Maybe it was a pet name for Amy.
