Possible for Martha;

Marriage;
11 Feb 1833, St Mary & All Saints, Chesterfield
John MOODY to Martha BERESFORD
(FreeREG)

1841 Census
Newbold Moor,
HO107/194/7/Chesterfield
John Moody, 35, Pot Burner
Martha Moody, 30
Thomas Moody, 7
Elizabeth Moody, 4
Jasper Moody, 1

Trouble is in 1851 Martha Moody is born c 1804, Brimington, Derbyshire
Image of age has a line through it so could be 41 which would still be a few years out.

Still as I said a possible only!

Hi,
Local history

Thomss Severn born 1824 Stanley common was actually the keeper of the Baths in 1861 he was living at the baths ( today the road is NottinghamRoad) a cordwainer and bath keeper.

1871 he is living on the Butts and is a letter carrier and boot maker.

The buts were originally where archery practice took place, this had not taken place for some 200 years, and was never associated with St. John's Chapel just happened to be near this church.

Beresford family eventually owned and ran the marble works many stones in Belper cemetery and church yards bear their name. Works still exist today, but not owned by the Beresford family. They also owned a butchers shop, next to marble works.

Many thanks, Stephani
I see how I became confused, as 'baths' was difficult to read in the original docs, and I read it as 'butts'!

This makes more sense, with the Strutt family donating the public baths in 1910.

Thank you for the info on the Beresford family - very interesting.

Best regards,
Frosty
