« on: Monday 25 July 16 14:33 BST (UK) »
I need some help once again please. I posted before about this family, since then I have managed to find Robert McMillan Ross siblings baptism's in the England church in Cape Town ( St George)
Also death notice for 4 of them.

But Alexander Ross b. 1814, have his baptism . Still looking for his death notice, marriage.
I think he could be my great grandmother Agnes van Wyk nee Ross's father.

Thanks Karen

There may not be a Death Notice however it might be worth applying for this will
   MOOC   7/1/251   3   ROSS, ALEXANDER. WILL.   1851   1851
MOOC   7/1/251   3   VAN ROOYEN, JOHANNA MARIA. WIFE OF ALEXANDER ROSS. WILL.   1851   1851

which was filed in 1861

I looked up the death notice it was for Johanna Maria Ross nee van Rooyen died 3 Aug 1860. she was only 27 years old. Married to Alexander Ross. And had five children, my great grandmother was not among them.

But no indication to when Alexander died? And he must of remarried.

Unfortunately unless he left an Estate their might not be a record that helpfully ties this all together.
The standard death notification from 1894 on wards only reports on the person. The estate death notice lists relatives I presume to assist in identifying heirs.
Are you sure he died in South Africa? Did Agnes die in SA as her death notice may indicate her parentage

Agnes did die in South Africa. I have her Estate file and death notice but no parents names were written on it. It just said parents deceased.
As for her father I have no idea were he could of died. Maybe he died in the Transvaal because their is a family story that he and two older sons went to the Transvaal, maybe to work on the gold fields.

Also the same story is Agnes and a younger brother were left behind in Graaff-Reinet with a woman who was not part of the family. So Agnes's mother must of been dead by then. I think she was of school going age still. Not sure. I need to find dates for these events.
