Can't see Catherine's entry, but some siblings for her in Londonderry:

Isabella 1867 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F5K8-WYF
Bernard 1873 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FPTL-P51

Unexpected variant of the surname, Ev. Might be worth checking for Catherine in the censuses with even more wildcards!

Thank you so much to both of you. This is more than I ever thought possible.

I've emailed to see if I can get any information of Catherine's time in the asylum in Bothwell.

I thought her an only child so the addition of these 3 siblings also gives me something to work on

I am very very grateful to you both for working on this . If I find anything else, of course, I will let you know.

Unexpected variant of the surname
and it's indexed as McKeenan on the GRONI web site!

I can't find a birth of Catherine or a likely-looking death of Bernard on the GRONI site, and I don't see a likely candidate for Bernard (senior or junior) in the Irish 1901 census.

There is a Catherine McCarron, 16, a boarder in Argyle Street, Londonderry, born Londonderry City, but there are other births that could account for this one.

You can search the Irish census at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie and the Northern Ireland BMDs at https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

According to the following burial record, your Catherine Strachan (née McCarron) was interred in Bent Cemetery, Hamilton.

STRACHAN, Catherine (Mrs), age 30, Burial 29 March 1910, (Kirkland's Asylum Bothwell) 13 Victoria St, Blantyre

There are several McCarron burials in Bent cemetery, which I've listed below. As McCarron is a relatively uncommon surname, they may well be related and perhaps provide a lead.

McCARRON, Annie, age 3, Burial 22 Dec 1890, 19 Lamb St, Hamilton
McCARRON, Catherine, age 44, Burial 15 April 1920, 45 Muir St, Hamilton
McCARRON, Helen, age 7 mo, Burial 4 Feb 1890, 17 Lamb St, Hamilton
McCARRON, Hugh, age 52, Burial 25 Nov 1911, 25 Holmes St, Hamilton
McCARRON, Mary Jane, age 33, Burial 8 Jan 1894, 3 Church St, Hamilton
McCARRON, Patrick, age 69, Burial 23 Aug 1949, Lamont Model Lodging House, Coatbridge
McCARRON, Sarah, no age given, Burial 14 Nov 1900, 27 Holmes St, Hamilton
McCARRON, William James, age 57, Burial 29 Jan 1940, 25 Alness St, Hamilton

Cheers,

Rodeo

Ive spent all day hunting for catherine's brother and sisters based on the information you have all given me.

I can't find any evidence that any of the rest of the family came to scotland.

Catherine's Parents Bernard McCarron and Catherine (Gillespie) - they both died before 1904 as when Catherine married John Strachan her parents are both listed as dead. This doesnt give me much time frame to play with so you think it would be easy but its not.

I cant find any thing on any of them - ire marriages, deaths, imigrations...

Can any one help me again?

The McCarrons were a catholic family.

Son Bernard McCarron was baptised in St Columbs RC church on 16 May 1873.
One sponsor but I cannot read her name. Mary ? ( could be Hendrie/Keirnan)
