Can't see this Sussex Marriage
« on: Wednesday 27 July 16 14:47 BST (UK) »

In my Pattenden notes iI have this Marriage:

Jeremiah Pattenden born in the early 1600’s, Married Margaret Jeffery at Southease, Sussex in Jun 1635.

However, I cannot now locate the Marriage Record:-(

Is anyone on here able to see it?

Cheers, Romilly.

Is this it on FamilySearch? No image though I'm afraid.

Yes, - many thanks Groom. Definately the right one:

Margaret Jeffery
England, Sussex, Parish Registers
Name    Jerimy Pattingden
Event Type    Marriage
Event Date    Jun 1635
Event Place    Southease, Southease, Sussex, England
Gender    Male
Marital Status    Married
Spouse's Name    Margaret Jeffery.

It was the spelling of Jeremy/Jerimy(!) that was foxing me:-)

Romilly.

1635 BT gives date of marriage as June 23
Jerimy was of Ringmire (Looks like! Ringmer?)
Southease PRs + BTs - you can see the originals on Family Search, but you would need to register with the website. You then find and view them as digitized microfilm via a place search on their catalogue

Thanks John. Yes, I am registered on Family Search, but the record says 'text only'?
(And that must be Ringmer, I think).
I have yet to work out how many x GreatGrandfather Jeremy/Jiremy Pattenden would have been to me... about 10x possibly?
Romilly :)

Hi Romilly
Well, I can only trace one of my lines back that far. And all of it pre 1800 is in Sussex!
I can give you the image links. But I'm having problems with the Rootschat shrink link (again!)
If you sign in, the PR image should be here

and the BT here

Thanks for reminding me about signing in, John - I forget you can see more by doing that! Pity that apart form the actual date there isn't any extra information in this case.

Many thanks for the Links John. For some reason I can't download those records, - not sure why...:-(
As Groom says, - no extra info, but... I love those old records with the spidery handwriting!

And btw, - I am totally stuck with my Paternal Grandfather on one side! And I only got so far with this lot, (my Maternal Grandmother's maternal line) because of the Pattenden one-name study...

And so don't give up hope,
Romilly :)
