George HALL
« on: Wednesday 27 July 16 20:53 BST (UK) »
I have George Hall born c1806 in Upper Hallam.  The first census I can find is 1851 where he is a farmer of 144 acres and shows wife Charlotte and quite a few children.  However closer inspection shows that Charlotte must have married George c1848 as the children before this date state "child of former wife".  The address on the 1851 is Bradfield in the parish of Ughill.

I have just found a baptism record for his second son and it shows the mother is called Rebecca.  If anyone could help me find his first marriage I would be really grateful.  Thank you  :D

1841 HO107 piece 2335 folio 354 page 8
Nether Holes Bradfield
George Hall  35 farmer Born in county? yes
Rebecca Hall  30 Born in county? NO
 Benjamin Hall  8 yes
 Charles Hall  4 Yes
 George Hall  1 Yes
 Joseph Outram  15

So the marriage may not have been in Yorkshire. A birth cert for George would give Rebecca's maiden name but George is such a common name.

There is a tree on ancestry which has Rebecca's surname as Watson. Born 1810 Derbyshire, married 1832 Bradfield, died 1844.  But haven't found their sources for these as yet
